Book Reviews of A Short Guide to a Happy Life

Book Review: Learning To Love The Journey, Not The Destination
Summary: 5 Stars

What a sweet inspiring book. The author shares her life transforming experience of her mother's death to inspire the reader to not take life for granted. For me this little (50 pages including many touching photos) book was a reminder of how rich each moment of life can be, and is if you live from moment to moment and not from goal to goal.

If you enjoyed this book I highly recommend a wonderful book called "WORKING ON YOURSELF DOESN'T WORK" by Ariel and Shya Kane. The Kane's book is a great read is for anyone interested in a practical guide to living in the moment, where your life has meaning and fulfillment.

Book Review: A Very Short Enjoyable Guide
Summary: 5 Stars

Anna Quindlen wrote this book as a commencement address to college graduates, and while she said she was not expert in economics, she is an expert in reminding us how human we all are. Together with her own words, this little book is filled with beautiful photography that captures lifes little moments.

I enjoyed Quindlen's wisdom about living life, about how to enjoy the journey and not just the destination. How to enjoy the small things - hugs from your kids, birds flying against the blue sky, your hubby's smile...these are the really important parts of life.

RECOMMENDED

Book Review: Sharing Magic With Friends
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a sweet book that belongs on your coffee table - for you, and for your guests to read when they are visiting and staying at your home. It is full of inspiring pictures and the simple message of loving the journey of life, not the destination.

Another quintessential coffee table book is Ariel & Shya Kanes' Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment. This book is full of wonderful short stories that remind people that life can be simple, beautiful and fun. It is a gift to give yourself and your guests - books that can make a difference in the quality of life.

Book Review: What it's all about
Summary: 5 Stars

Almost everyone I know (me foremost) needs to read this book not just once but every few months. And probably every few weeks. It's a reminder of what it (it being Life) is NOT all about: working too much, forgetting to breathe, loving too little, relying on fast food and minimal sleep to nourish body and soul...if you've read this far, you're a candidate. Keep it near a good reading light, ignore the occasional cliche that makes you wish Quindlen had the kind of editor every terrific writer deserves, and open more often than a box of dark chocolates.

Book Review: Wonderful...
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was refreshing... just the gift to give to each of my daughters, to share what is important in life. I was shocked by those who gave harsh reviews, but I realize that these are the folks who need this book the most. Unfortunately, a hard shell often prevents absorbtion of quality material. Go Anna! If you only influence a handful of folks to choose the optimistic, kind, caring, thankful route in life you have succeeded in doing something beautiful! Almost everyone at the library where I work has purchased a copy for their daughter(s).
