Book Reviews of A Short Guide to a Happy LifeBook Review: Short yet profound Summary: 5 Stars
"OK, now it's been said, and noone ever needs to say anything more."
That was my first thought after finishing this remarkable book. Ms. Quindlen helps us to learn the easy way - reading a short, warm, and very inspiring book - what she learned the hard way - by losing a loved parent: being present in every present moment. I have heard and read this advice many times, but never so clearly, concisely, and convincingly. Read this book!

Book Review: Your grad doesn't WANT a fat book right now! Summary: 5 Stars
...I know I like Anna Quindlen's writing, but wasn't sure what to expect from "A Short Guide to a Happy Life." Here's what I found: a very slim book with lots of photographs. Was I disappointed? Not at all. This is a perfect gift for a graduate - after all those final exams and papers, the truth is that your graduate isn't ready to even pick up a full-length book for a while, let alone read one! This book is filled with the kind of advice that is a happy antidote to all those "go out and knock 'em dead in the business world" speeches. Quindlen advises the graduate to walk in awareness, and appreciate the small moments that life has to offer. Good advice for anyone - graduates, dropouts, whoever....
Book Review: If you are entangled... Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent book that revisits a message told many a times about taking things easy and appreciating what you have in life.
I had been going through a spiritual awakening like many other people but was only going down a spiral of seeking 'wisdom', and a perfect state in which I'd one day find a perfect way to live life. This book help me find a floor to stop the free fall. It just reminds us that life is what you are living in this moment, and waiting for this one day when you learnt to be perfect that never is to be is such a waste.
Enjoy the journey rather than suffer anxiety, depression and other problems related to finding a perfect psychology.
Thanks Anna.
Book Review: A Memorable Tiny Book Summary: 5 Stars
"A Short Guide to a Happy Life" is a tiny book with a big dose of wisdom. The black-and-white photographs are original and interesting and the text only takes less than 10 minutes to read. This is the perfect book if you just want a few minutes of inspiration. Anna Quindlen quotes quite a bit so there is even less of her writing than you might expect. Still, I loved the ending and I think it was profound in its own way. This is a short reminder to "get a life" instead of being consumed with work. I'm giving this five stars because it has a very memorable ending which made me think about my life in a new way. I think a trip to a beach is now in order.

Book Review: A balm for the busy and hurried Summary: 5 Stars
This essay, which can be read in 15 minutes, should be required reading for those who find themselves overcommitted, rushed, stuck in a rut, and overcome with the details of life. Those who criticize her writing style as 'cliche-ridden' miss the point that our lives can become just as problematically mundane if we forget to stop and enjoy the simple things, if we forget to listen, if we neglect the view along the way. This book should appeal to just about anyone, but especially to those who are on the cusp of 'getting a life' (i.e., graduates or those embarking on careers), or to anyone so overly focused on the destination that they tend to forget to enjoy the journey.
