Book Reviews of A Prisoner of BirthBook Review: Triffic Summary: 5 Stars
I began to panic towards the end of this book because I wanted it to go on and on. Such a good change from reading long books and groaning about how much I've still to get through. When Archer writes thrillers I don't think anyone can top him. This was at least as good as False Impression but you get into the characters more. It's supposed to be a modern version of The Count of Monte Christo but Archer has improved upon many things. He's also obviously learned a lot about prejudice itself and that it is like evidence against the accused, learned from his own trial and time in prison. Another great read.
Book Review: A Prisoner of Birth - Best Read In A Long Time Summary: 5 Stars
We are avid readers. This book was passed to us by a friend who told us it was one of the best books she'd ever read. Both my husband and I read the book while on vacation in St. Martin and passed it on to some people we met there. We both agree it's the best book we've read in a long time.
While in Florida this winter, we told a friend about it and he tried to borrow it from the local library without success. So, I checked with Amazon, found & ordered the book, and gave it to him before we left there for NJ. I believe he's reading it now and loving it. :-)
Book Review: Another Winner for Jeffrey Archer Summary: 5 Stars
Archer has long been a favorite of mine, but when my husband was still reading at 2:30 in the morning, I knew Prisoner of Birth should receive 5 stars! Some twists were expected; others surprised us pleasantly. Even when an event was anticipated, the storyline to achieve that event was a delight. We read a lot and have become more critical all the time, but Jeffery Archer certainly delivered with this novel. While my husband read the book, I instead listened to the unabridged audiobook where Roger Allam's reading was superb and added much to my enjoyment.
Book Review: rickweisheimer Summary: 5 Stars
I've read a lot of Jeffrey Archer books and having just finished A Prisoner of Birth, I think it's his best. There is a fascinating main plot along with many secondary ones to keep you guessing and surprised to the final page. Archer has to be among the very best fiction writers. Buy this book, you won't be disappointed. Be parepared to lose sleep because once you've started it, you won't be able to put it down.
Book Review: Page turner and nodoz Summary: 5 Stars
It has been a long time since I read a book that I couldn't put down. The story is tightly woven, well-written, engaging, and fulfilling. It begins with a proposal of marriage on a night that sets the stage for the rest of the story. Archer has woven betrayal, intrigue, love, friendship, and loyalty into a very satisfying and beautiful story. The ending is the only thing that is predictable but still satisfying.
