Book Reviews of A Perfect Husband

Book Review: Unreliable, ill-conceived, and badly written
Summary: 1 Stars

Another ghoulish ambulance chaser capitalising on the grief of this poor family.

It wouldn't be so bad if the book contained facts, if it really tried to investigate what happened the night of Kathleen Peterson's death. But it doesn't. Jones has decided that Peterson is a sociopath and only includes information that she believes proves it.

She doesn't mention ever speaking to Michael Peterson, or to any of the people who knew him well. She has only spoken to those who had a reason to dislike him and believe him guilty.

She contradicts herself so frequently that I have to believe she didn't understand what she was talking about. The details she highlights from Peterson's life also contradict so frequently with the other book in this vein, Diane Fanning's "Written in Blood" that I scarcely know who to believe. They both show such obvious bias that I tend not to believe either of them.

I hope Michael Peterson is guilty, and deserves the treatment he's been given. It's just too horrible to think of an innocent man being persecuted in this shabby way.

Book Review: Far from Perfect
Summary: 1 Stars

"He knew his infidelity was not all HER fault..." That sentence, which made me laugh out loud, summarizes the whole book: ridiculous. The author is talking about Kathleen Peterson's first husband, who has the gall to say that his cheating on his wife is not entirely his wife's fault. Gee, what a big man he is. Of course, the guy comes across as the jerk he is, but the problem is that Aphrodite Jones doesn't get it: she takes the guy at face value, as if cheating on his spouse said nothing about him.

Jones also stars out with the description of an ideal evening that is ridiculous considering she believes that Michael Peterson killed his wife on that very evening. She even narrates what was on Kathleen's mind that night--and, unless she's a medium, there was no way for her (or anyone else) to know. The only thing Kathleen Peterson (RIP) was guilty of was a terrible taste in men, and she deserved much better--in her life, in her marriage, and in the book that was written about her. My condolences to her daughter, Caitlin.

Book Review: Not exactly perfect
Summary: 1 Stars

Incredible! Outrageous! Unbelievable! It boggles my mind to know that a kind, wonderful person like Michael Peterson can so easily be railroaded into prison. The only "true crime" in this book is an innocent man being punished for a murder that never happened. I find it interesting that the only people Ms. Jones interviewed for her book were people who didn't really know Mr. Peterson well or who had much to gain from his conviction. Truly one-sided yellow journalism at its best.

Book Review: don't bother
Summary: 1 Stars

I would expect more from such a well-read/known author. This book is cursory and superficial at best and offered little more than was broadcast on CourtTV. I kept hoping for more, but apparently as an accomplished writer she wasn't contracted to produce anything greater than a play by play of the courtroom highlights. VERY disappointing!!

Book Review: Author doesn't research all her "facts."
Summary: 1 Stars

I didn't finish reading this book. I stopped when she began referencing another crime (Rae Carruth's murder trial) and got most of the "facts" of that case incorrect. She jumps from one time period to another and back again. I noticed this in another book of hers that I read. I'll never waste another dime on anything she writes.
