Book Reviews of A Charlotte Mason EducationBook Review: The BEST Charlotte Mason book out there Summary: 5 Stars
I've read every book on Charlotte Mason that I could find and this is the best (A More Charlotte Mason Education is excellent also). This book is extremely well organized, concisely written and very easy to understand. I appreciate that it gets right to the point since I don't have a lot of time to meander around looking for the answers. After reading this book I felt completely prepared to begin our homeschool experience. The other books I'd read only made me think that I needed to read more because I didn't 'have the answers yet.' The organization of this book makes it easy to quickly look up any subject you have a question on and find the answer immediately. What a blessing!
I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about Charlotte Mason or wanting to know how to implement her teachings in your school. It is also an excellent read for husbands, families and friends who may not fully understand the CM method. You'll want a copy on your shelf to review again and again.
Book Review: Great Introduction to Charlotte Mason Method of Homeschooling Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this book after I embarked on our homeschooling adventure about a year ago and have read it - in whole or in part - several times. I even started a notebook in which I went through, chapter by chapter, and recorded information that was particularly inspiring or instructive.
The author does a fantastic job of condensing the writings of Charlotte Mason and her peers and, for me, made the method seem far less daunting. This is in contrast to Karen Andreola's "A Charlotte Mason Companion" which made me feel a bit overwhelmed at the very idea of implementing even one of CM's ideas into our homeschool!
This book gives the "what" - "why" AND the "how" in a very accessible way.
I recommend this book to parents and teachers - whether you homeschool or not. It's a great resource and an excellent addition to any library.
Book Review: Not skimpy --just to the point... Summary: 5 Stars
I just finished reading this book and it's companion ("More Charlotte Mason Education." They both were very good! What I loved about this book was it was straightforward, easy to read and explains how to implement CM principles when homeschooling. As someone new to CM, I needed this book to explain the basic principles and give me an idea of how to apply them. As a busy mother of 3 young children, I don't have time to venture through huge volumes of homeschool philosophy. I read both books in one evening. I felt I got enough from this book to get started. I do feel I need to research the "nature study" portion of CM a bit more but that is probably because the concept is so new to me. Great read--highly recommend it!
Book Review: Helpful and practical. Summary: 5 Stars
I've read Charlotte Mason's original works and every other book on Charlotte Mason topics, but I always had trouble with the details of practically applying Miss Mason's methods with my students. Levison's book took the mystery out of the method. Within the first 24 hours of reading A Charlotte Mason Education, I started applying the methods with my children and we loved it! I knew Charlotte Mason's methods were what I wanted to use... and this great little book made it possible. I highly recommend this book to anyone seriously considering implementing Charlotte Mason's methods in their home or school.
Book Review: This book was very helpful Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this book after talking to someone about Charlotte Mason style of homeschooling. I had never heard of her and wanted a quick insight into her philosophy. This book provided me with exactly what I wanted. It is short and gives a good overview of the philosophy. It does not inundate the reader with irrelevant information. I read it in one evening. I recommend it to anyone who is curious about the Charlotte Mason approach but doesn't want to spend a lot of time or money getting information.
