I knew Stephen Hawkins from his scientific reputation, a physicist of international renown, who prevailed over serious illness most of his life.
This did nor inhibit him from exercising his brilliant mind to the full.
I was NOT disappointed by his latest book, an up-to-date version of his much earlier treatise " A Brief History of Time." A succinct, easy to understand book on a very difficult subject.

a good introduction into the realm of modern physics, including me! It's really a good book, and if you find reading "a brief history of time" or any other book concerning the subject (i'm talking about the physics stuff) difficult to understand, this might serve as an introductory or reference on the underlying principle (the basics),all in all, a really good book!Book Review: great book overall

This book is a great book about our world as a whole. It recaps most of the underlying theories and discoveries in physical science in a way that a high school graduate should be able to understand. I'm not going to go into great detail about the book its self but I highly recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about physics.Book Review: Non-Fiction for Science Fiction Lovers

Excellent presentation of complex scientific theories. Stephen Hawking knows how to extract core principals and shape them into digestible morsels for his readers to consume and enjoy. The material is an update from his earlier Brief History of Time, and has the same cast of characters.
If only he wrote fiction!

This is a wonderful book -- I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it. Now I'm going to get the "more difficult" previous version, A Brief History of Time, and can refer back and forth. Stephen Hawking's tv specials are exciting to watch; they're on PBS from time to time.
