Book Reviews of A Breath of Snow and Ashes (Outlander)

Book Review: An Epic Return
Summary: 5 Stars

A BREATH OF SNOW AND ASHES give us our characters back as we expect them to be, larger than life beckoning us on to number seven with impatient expectations. Okay, this one more than lives up to Diana Gabaldon's standard of long books with very fine print. But you hang on, even with a magnifying glass through every word.
Diana is one of the few authors whose descriptions match the little essays of Victor Hugo, who was paid by the inch. You read them, even if they don't advance the storyline. That is the remarkable talent that keeps us waiting for the next installment.

Book Review: Great book!
Summary: 5 Stars

Really, really great book. This sets up the revolution perfectly! It also reveals a lot of little mysteries, and Bree becomes . . . nice. No, they never get a break, but they decided in the end of Outlander (or maybe it was the beginning of Dragonfly) what their life was going to be like. It's not like they're just randomly thrown in the middle of trouble all the time. Plus, this book really gets into Jamie's head a lot more and you finally understand why he does some of the things he does. It's a great read.

And in the Outlandish Companion, there is an exerpt from the next book... don't know how many people have found that yet ;)

Diana Gabaldon does it again! I started many years ago on the Outlander series and have not yet been dissapointed with any of the books. The best part is that the books are so long that I have many hours of pleasure to look forward to. I will certainly reread this one, as I have reread all the others at least once. I don't know if there will be any more stories of Claire and Jamie or even of Brianna and Roger, but one can only hope. Kudos to Ms Gabldon, I am proud to share a state with this excellent author.

Book Review: Once again I was spell bound.
Summary: 5 Stars

Once again Diana Gabaldon has done a wonderful job of captivating her audience with the continuation of the Outlander series in this book. Her discriptive writing makes you feel as though you are there with each character. This book as the others in this series is hard to put down and yet you don't want to finish the book because you don't want the journey to end. There is war and violence, hardship and joy and it is the most wonderful love story I have ever read. I have read the entire series twice and I am sure I will read A breath of Snow and Ashes again.

Diana Gabaldon has held my attention rapt again. She is an amazing writer and has given me an unbelievable thirst for History. The way that she places her fictional characters into real events is awesome. I think I have actually learned things while reading this. I can not wait to go to Scotland and see the places that Clair and Jamie traveled. We plan to go this summer. I am not sure I can wait for the next book. I really hope Jamie and Clair, Roger and Bree and the kids live long lives so Ms. Gabaldon can write about them.
