Book Reviews of A Breath of Snow and Ashes (Outlander)Book Review: simply beautiful Summary: 5 Stars
I started reading the Outlander series years ago and have not been disappointed by any of the books. While I don't like them all equally, the first and second books are my favorites, they are all worth reading. And worth reading more than once. As with most well written books invovling time travel, it can get more than a little complicated to explan in a short summary, so I wont bother. What I will say however is that the characters Diana creates are beautiful. They are so real that you truely feel for them. Through her books you befriend Claire, and fall in love with Jamie. There are not many series out there that really make you feel that the people are so real that they could walk out of the pages and into real life. I recommend this series to anyone. They're long books but they are worth the time it takes to read them.
Book Review: Awesome series!! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a fairly new fan to the Outlander series. I picked up Outlander almost 2 months ago, and I began reading A Breath of Snow and Ashes this weekend. I'm hooked. I have had many sleepless nights for fear of missing something. Everyone I encounter I encourage to read this series.
It's rare to find a series that is so interesting, enthralling, sad, funny, intelligent, and adventurous. When I am in between books, I wonder what the characters are doing. I miss them. I'm an English teacher, so I have read many many books, but rarely have any touched me as this series has.
If you are looking for something that isn't fluff, but something of substance, something that will not just entertain you, but educate you as well, then the Outlander series is what you are looking for.
Book Review: There is no other. Summary: 5 Stars
Several years ago while wandering in a favorite bookstore. I was passing time reading the inside of book covers
I came across Dragon Fire in Amber by Diana Gabaldon.
Since then every book I have read is judged by her outstanding writing.
There is no other author who can make a cast of indivuals come to life.
Readers find themselfs breathing the air of her people . Sitting at their hearth a reader feels the ashes swirling in the air.
The books come alive. I adore that she gets her facts right.
Weather she is healing with herbs, performing sugery or fighting for her life.
Her history timeline flows perfectly, Gabaldon gets it right everytime.
Reading a new Gabaldon is a treasure.
Book Review: Not quite done Summary: 5 Stars
An amazingly well written book about the years preceeding the Revolutionary War, including some uprisings in the Carolinas that few people even know about (even historians). For all the fiction, there are layers of fact that sublimely assist in the story.
There is much to be said about what this book is not; for starters, is not a conclusion to the storyline, it's not a summation or ending of the tale, and it's definitely not a satisfactory stopping point. There are many items and questions left unanswered, especially with a teaser in the back that is an excerpt of a the 'last' novel in which Jaimie leads a regiment of soldiers in battle during the American Revolutionary War.
Book Review: OUTSTANDING - AWESOME- PERFECT Summary: 5 Stars
What more can I say. This book is outstanding, just as the entire series and of course JAMIE is yummy like always! I do want to correct one thing. - This is NOT the final book in the series. I just left Diana's website and she reassures us that there will be at least one more book, maybe two for Jamie and Claire!!! YEAH. That is all she will promise at this point, but I know we all sigh a breath of relief to know we have more Jamie to come :).
As for the book - READ IT. If you haven't read the others first, put it down, RUN to the bookstore and buy the series. Then find a comfortable place, away from the world, and ENJOY!!! It is ABSOLUTELY worth every minute.
