Book Reviews of 50 Easy Classical Guitar Solos

Book Review: Great starter book for classical guitar
Summary: 5 Stars

I really wanted to get back to classical guitar - I'm not bad at folk, know a little flamenco, but never got into classical. In other words, I know how to play the guitar in terms of basic technique but needed a graduated set of exercises that would help me learn to sight-read music, not just use tabs, and let me work my way through progressively more difficult music. This book turned out to be just the thing. Each piece is a little more difficult than the last -- not too much so, but enough so I really feel like I'm making progress, and the exercises are musical enough to be enjoyable.

At first I depended on the tabs, but now I hardly ever look at them! They're there if you need them...

Great book!

Book Review: A great way to get started again
Summary: 5 Stars

I used to play classical guitar in high school and college. But career and family caused me to drift away. Thirty years later (!) my wife bought me a guitar for Christmas. I was worried, but this book has got me going again. It is easy enough to rebuild some confidence that I could play well again, but also has some moderately difficult pieces that force me to move along. Some nice arrangements that make it clear you can entertain others by playing. It's a little like skiing on the green dots and being led into the blue squares. Safe but not too safe. Try it.

Book Review: Great book for the beginner classical guitar enthusist
Summary: 5 Stars

I just got a classical guitar for a gift and have had a difficult time finding music to become accuainted with the instrument. You need to know how to read simple tabulature so some knowledge of guitars is nessary. A excellent book to get started with guitars is "GUITARS FOR DUMMIES" which has a small section for classical guitar. Once you have to basics down, this book will give you a good direction to go. The pieces start off easy and gradually gat more involved and show you a good cross section of music for classical guitar

Book Review: Great for a beginner
Summary: 5 Stars

I started teaching myself classical guitar a few months ago. I picked up this book along with another instruction book. Once I learned the notes from the other instruction book, I started playing the songs in this book. They start off simple and get progressively more difficult. The CD is also very helpful in getting an idea of how the songs should sound. As a beginner, I am very pleased with this book. It has really helped me become a better player and get a few songs under my belt. I would highly recommend it.

Book Review: You'll be playing songs quickly
Summary: 5 Stars

This book utilizes a great concept. The cd that comes with it helps you understand how the songs should sound, which helps guide your practice. I find myself ignoring many of the suggested right hand fingerings because the thumb is used in some areas where it really isn't necessary. The songs are beautiful. This book will have you playing some nices pieces quickly.
