Book Reviews of 3rd Degree (Women's Murder Club)Book Review: Reading with Tequila Summary: 4 Stars
I love the Women's Murder Club series. 3rd Degree offered up more of the same, fast paced, good mystery, and enjoyable characters. What makes this book different than the 2 previous installments is the shocking death of a pretty major character. Even in the third book, you're still getting to know the characters better. Killing one off was something I wasn't expecting and it made the book all the better.
James Patterson is known for writing easy to read, formulaic mysteries that appeal to the masses, but don't venture into uncharted waters. 3rd Degree is a prime example of that. It's a great novel, but it doesn't show the reader anything they haven't seen elsewhere. Fast and fun, but less than original.
Book Review: Good Escape Reading Summary: 4 Stars
Not exactly books that will titilate the mind, but they are great to just get away and escape into someone else's live. I love these books when I need to just kick back and relax and not think. The characters are well written and the books can be alternately humorous, giddy, saddening, and sickening. This book especially made me want to throttle the author. You just never know where he's going to take these characters.
Book Review: Quick Fun Read Summary: 4 Stars
I admit that these are a guilty pleasure. After reading Step on a Crack, I about gave up on Patterson; I thought it was maudlin and that his writing was "lazy"...relying on too many characters he had used in the past. I actually think that having a co-writer makes these stories better. Although certainly not requiring much brain-power, they are just plain fun to read.
Book Review: I liked it...but the first one is still my favorite (1st to Die) Summary: 4 Stars
So this is the third one of the series...and for the most part the series is pretty good. This particular book was interesting and it did throw in a surprise. The ending was weak, but leading up to the end was cool. As usual, it was a fast read, with big fonts! Read it, but you'll have to read the first two to really get to know the characters.
Book Review: A Great Blizzard Read Summary: 4 Stars
The Women's Murder Club is a fun series and this book is no exception. A fast read, perfect for a blizzard Sunday. My only gripe is that "August Spies" was a mystery until the prof told Lindsay. I mean haven't they heard of google?
