Book Reviews of 25 Bridge Conventions You Should Know

Book Review: teacher use
Summary: 5 Stars

I teach beginning and advanced bridge lessons. I have used this book but broke it down over a 6 week period, taking only 2 conventions at a time. Since the class was relatively large (24) I found it helpful to arrange duplicate boards illustrating the lesson conventions. It served two purposes, to introduce the convention and to learn duplicate at a relaxed table. (No matchpoint scoring only the duplicate score) I picked most used conventions and plan to expand the more advanced conventions at a later time with one convention at a time in a workshop utilizing the same format. This book is invaluable for a teacher and several class members bought it for themselves.

Book Review: 25 Bridge Conventions
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a book that describes twenty five modern Bridge conventions that every current Bridge player should know and use.

Each convention is described and explained clearly. One of the best features of the book is that at the end of each description of the convention is a sheet of example bridge hands that illustrate the convention. The reader can make his own answer to the questions, then check to see if he really understood the explanation. It is a good way to learn.

I think this is a very good book for every bridge player to learn and use the modern conventions.

Book Review: Terrific bridge book on the essential conventions
Summary: 5 Stars

If you are looking for a bridge book that covers the most common conventions out there in the "bridge world"...this is the book for you. This book covers all the essentials to learn and understand the most popular bridge conventions. It does it in an easy to understand and precise manner. You will feel confident after reading and studying. The one feature missing.....doesn't give you the opportunity to practice much on each convention. You will have to play to learn that. But this book is worth the price to increase your playing power.

Book Review: A terrific reference book for the intermediate bridge player
Summary: 5 Stars

Barbara Seagram has a winner here! I am a bridge teacher in Arizona and have recommended the book to all of my students because it is written in a clear and logical manner. Enthusiastic beginning and intermediate players are playing duplicate bridge because of this book. Many are now quoting the author when discussing bridge hands. I highly recommend this book to bridge players who are looking to improve their game.

Book Review: Must read for all levels of bridge players
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is presented in a very orderly style. The order of importance of the conventions are the order of the chapters, however you can skip around with no problem. Lots of examples in the text and then more problems with solutions explained. Every bridge player needs this book either duplicate or kitchen player. Buy one for your partner. I had to order a second one because he marked mine all over.
