Book Reviews of 2007 Photographer's MarketBook Review: Less than I was expecting Summary: 3 Stars
I've got to say, I was a little disappointed in the latest offering from the Photographer's Market series. I have been interested in pursuing work with publications in my area and beyond, as I shoot food, interiors, and home decor. There was very little assistance in the publication realm in this update. Even some of the wonderful magazines I know are in existence in my area were not mentioned. Actually, very few were at all. I wonder why this wasn't covered? However, one of my fellow alumi was featured in a profile, and that was neat to see.
Book Review: Provides a list, but it's not enough Summary: 3 Stars
This book provides a very thorough list of photo buyers and surely photographers can try and contact them by sending portfolios or cold-calling, but in my opinion, you get a lot more exposure on online stock photo agencies like shutterpoint and such. Get the buyers to come to you instead of trying to push your work to them.
The book is a useful resource for serious beginning photographers, but there are more effective ways to start your photo business and get returns on your photos right away.
