David Pietrusza's "1920: The Year of Six Presidents" does not fail to hold the reader's attention through nearly 450 pages of historical weaving-and-wandering through the major figures of the 1920 election ultimately won by Warren G. Harding.

One encounters Harding, Wilson, Coolidge, Teddy Roosevelt (briefly), Franklin Delano Roosevelt (more extenstively) and Herbert Hoover as the author winds his way from the waning years of Woodrow Wilson's presidency to the ascendancy of FDR in the election of 1932. But the focus is on 1920 and the battle between Harding and the Democrat candidate James Cox. A fascinating piece of history organized around six characters, each interesting in their own way.
