Book Reviews of 101 Things to Do with Ramen NoodlesBook Review: Makes ramen bearable Summary: 4 Stars
This book covers salads to deserts and everything in between. Most of the dishes make about two servings which is great if you're a college kid on a budget. Not good for dieters. One recipe calls for an entire cup of mayonnaise and some others are heavy on butter. Most of the recipes call for the use of ramen salt as well, upping the sodium and calories in these dishes. Some dishes are a hit or miss. The recipes are very basic, which I look at as a plus because it leaves lots of room for experimentation. I recommend this book to inexperienced cooks looking for bargain meals.
Book Review: Great gift for college students Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this book for my 18 year old college bound niece. She is a freshman at Loyola Marymount in L.A. and is on her own for the first time. I sent this book and a case of Ramen through Amazon to her at school. She loved the book and said 99% of the recipes are really simple and actually taste great. There is Parmesean Noodles, Alfredo noodles, mexican spaghetti and a chocolate crunchy noodle recipe. This is a definite buy for any college student or anyone looking for affordable ways to make meals, considering Ramen is like 10 cents a bag.
Book Review: Great ideas! Summary: 4 Stars
This book has some great ideas on using ordinary ramen from simple to sophisticated. You have to watch the calories/fat on some of these recipes though. I made the "Chicken Alfredo" recipe and it called for one cup of butter and one cup of cream! That is overkill for 2 packages of ramen! I made a skinny version of the sauce instead. Other recipes like "Garlic Shrimp 'n' Veggies" are very easy and much healthier.
Book Review: Interesting Ideas Summary: 4 Stars
I actually bought this book as a joke for a friend. They were complaining that the only food they could afford to buy was ramen noodles. I saw this book reviewed on TV and bought it for them. They were actually thrilled to have all the recipe ideas for ramen noodles. It gave them some variety in their menu.
Book Review: INTERESTING Summary: 4 Stars
BOUGHT THIS FOR 14-YR-OLD NEPHEW WHO'S JUST STARTING TO SHOW INTEREST IN COOKING. HE PRACTICALLY LIVES OFF RAMEN ANYWAYS, SO THIS SHOULD ADD A LITTLE VARIETY TO HIS NORM. SOME RECIPES SOUND DELICIOUS, OTHERS NOT SO MUCH, BUT STILL A COOL BOOK.
