Book Reviews of 101 Things a College Girl Should KnowBook Review: Disappointingly slim volume of rather obvious hints Summary: 2 Stars
A bit of a waste of time really. The tips offered are rather obvious and not particularly insightful. Not much content.
Book Review: Too Cute - No Substance Summary: 1 Stars
Honestly, this book is in love with its own cuteness. Not only is it tiny (yes, you get very little physical book for the money), it just isn't very helpful. I purchased this book as a graduation gift earlier this year, and decided not to give it. The pages are filled with absolute drivel. I bought an entire set of how to survive college books as part of a gift basket. The better books (in no particular order) would include: (All are available from Amazon.com) * Confessions of a College Freshman (ISBN: 1589196600 ) - a good solid read with heart felt advice. * College 101: The Book Your College Does Not Want You To Read (ISBN: 0966412206) The fact that college professionals panned it - should tell you something -- it is HONEST. Not to mention downright hilarious. The author holds back nothing! A very insightful author reveals the dirt on higher education. * Been There, Should've Done That (ISBN: 0965608611) - just honest to goodness truth and common sense. Good practical advice, and well thought out. It is a quick, easy, but well worth reading book.
Book Review: Just plain bad Summary: 1 Stars
This book is a joke. I bought it for my daughter's high school graduation (coming up this June). I wanted to give her something besides a card with money in it.
Gosh, where do I begin. First, this book is small, no wait - TINY. Second each page has one item on it. You receive such pearls of wisdom as,"Don't Be Afraid to Cry" -- at over $35,000 a semester, trust me, I am the one who should be crying.
I have looked at almost every book in this genre. Although it is biased towards guys, College 101: The Book Your College Does Not Want You To Read, is by far the superior book. At least the author puts in real advice.
Book Review: I should have read the reviews first Summary: 1 Stars
My mistake, I should have read the customer reviews before I spent $6.95 on this silly little book. I was so irritated upon opening my box from Amazon but I realized it was my fault for not scrolling down to see what other said about it. It takes about two minutes to read and even though the advice is good it isn't worth the money at all.
Book Review: Waste of Money Summary: 1 Stars
I read through this in under 5 minutes. No information that you cant find somewhere else. Save your money. Not worth it... If you want this type of advice, just start asking family, friends, and teachers for college advice. Will equate to about the same thing.
