Book Reviews of 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life

Book Review: On the MUST READ list for 2008 & beyond
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow - this is really an amazing book. So easy to read - so chock full of fun facts, history and information on some great great foods. I am a "cookbook junkie" and I must say, the majority of the recipes in this book are ones I would (and have started to) make on a regular basis. But more importantly, recipes I would share with friends who aren't as "into" cooking as I am. They are easy to make and unbelievably good for you!

Thanks to the author for finally writing a healthy living / informative / cookbook / eating guidebook - that everyone who buys food for their family and friends can live by and use for years to come. My grocery shopping --- especially for grains, fruits and vegetables -- has completely changed and my husband and 3 kids are ecstatic with the food I now keep stocked in my house.

This will be my hostess gift, relative birthday gift and "go-to" gift for a long time... Thanks!

This book is a dietary cornacopia of natural food information.Discussed are 101 major organic foods from almonds to yogurt, from soup to nuts, alpha to omega. At first,i assumed it was another cookbook on natural foods and processed foodstuffs added. It has some one hundred plus all natural recipes ,that are of optimal healthy choices and tasty sounding too.A fair amount of wise information on each food object. Each one has a historical note and the root meaning about it.Food lore and place of origin are discussed. What vitamins and their beneficial elements are provided . Also what aliments the foods can aid, prevent and remedy for you.Suggestional tips on selecting, storing, preparing and serving them. What i like most about the book,is that it's an excellent source of nutritional real food information, often overshadowed in our modern reprocessed consumer culture.

Book Review: This book cuts to the chase!
Summary: 5 Stars

Simplify your food shopping. This new book 101 Foods that could Save your Life cuts to the chase about which foods to purchase at your local grocery store and Farmers' Market along with providing recipes using each food that are beautiful, delicious, and (yes!) healthy, too. 101 Foods is well organized, easy (and FUN!) to read and then read again. It is chock-full of information about each food, ranging from where it is grown to how it helps to keep our bodies healthy. The information is beneficial to people focused on optimizing either cancer survivorship or cancer prevention as well as those who are trying to reduce the risk of or manage other conditions like heart disease and diabetes with good food and good nutrition. I'm going to enjoy making these delicious recipes throughout 2008 and for many years beyond, too.

Book Review: Inspiring!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this book! The author's witty, consise and highly informative style make this a great, easy-to-use reference. I suggest keeping this book close at hand whether you are enjoying a relaxing meal or a quick bite. My teens have enjoyed looking up the nutrition facts, history, and lore of the foods they are eating. I am making an effort to stock our pantry and refrigerator with more of the "powerhouse" foods. We now think more about the nutritional value of the foods we eat and are inspired to explore the "101" through the fabulous recipes provided in the book. The author's positive approach is refreshing, making us feel good about the foods we eat and encouraging us to make better nutritional choices.

Book Review: Small investment for your health!
Summary: 5 Stars

What a small investment for your health. I couldn't believe how easy, informative and entertaining this book was to read!

First---I went straight to the foods I DO like to eat, revealing their health benefits. Then I reviewed foods for certain medical conditions and figured these are the foods I need to incorporate into other dishes. I love garlic, but was never fond of basil. But the Basil Pistachio Pesto recipe was out of this world! Good job at getting a non-basil eating person to eat basil, David.

Thanks for doing the research on these food items so that we can all have them at our fingertips.
