Book Review: fun for a short while -- not a favorite

This book is a twist on the classic rhyme -- my problem with it is that each duck hits the water in a different way, one falls in the tub, one leaps in the tub, one slides in the tub and so on. This may be intended to keep it more "interesting" but the preschool crowd actually thrives from repetition. I much prefer changing the words so that every time "and one falls in -- SPLASH!" The other downside with this book which may be major or minor depending on the personality of your child is that immediately he/she is going to demand a blue rubber duckie like the one in the book and you most likely won't be able to find one. It's cute, but I have no idea where they bought it and I searched online for quite a while with no luck. The pictures are real photographs which is OK with me but the ducks look like they're diving into light blue gel instead of water... it's a little creepy. In short, if you're thinking of this as a baby shower gift or present for your little one, skip it. There are better books out there.
