As a woodcarver and experienced in realistic Bird and Fish carving, I found that Brian Gilmore covered every aspect of the whale figure that one can possibly need for wood carving. Gilmore was also able to make the book a pleasure to read for the novice as well as the experienced wood carver.The patterns are clear and detailed.The Instructions are a pleasure to not only read but to follow with clear and simple percision.I am looking forward to the next book on carving that Brian Gilmore writes

Here is a chance to get to know some of earths most fascinating creatures through wood carving. Brian Gilmore provides patterns and easy to follow carving instructions for 10 species of whales. More than 150 color photographs lead the carver step-by-step through the carving and painting of the Great Right Whale and the Killer Whale and provide direction for the alterations needed to carve the other species.
