Book Reviews of 10 Minutes till BedtimeBook Review: An Immediate Favorite Summary: 5 StarsI checked this book out of the library for my 2 1/2yr old daughter. Although she enjoys most books we check out, I've never seen her react so favorably to a book and because there are so many things going on, I never tire of reading it with her! We've discovered something new every single time we've read it. We enjoy finding the 10 numbered hamsters of the family and always know #9 is going to be up high, etc! Not to mention how she helps me "read" it, shouting out BEDTIME and counting down w/me! It reminds me of a Richard Scarry book my brother had growing up that he would never put down and I knew I had to make this a permanent addition to our family!
Book Review: We love it!!! Summary: 5 StarsI had checked this book out of the library for my 3 year old and it so quickly became a favorite that I had to buy it in order to be allowed to return the library book. Every time we "read" it we find something new. The lack of text has not been an issue as we are really liking using our imaginations to make it up as we go. This book is also helping bedtime become easier as we follow throught the snack , tooth brushing, potty, jammies routine in the book. It makes bed time a little more fun for a little boy who is afraid he will be missing something by sleeping.
Book Review: Delightful Summary: 5 StarsThis book is packed with detail making it fun to "read" everytime. The illustrations are charming and you fall in love with the hamster family that starts on the tour. After reading it many times you actually start to understand the personalities of each family member.Peggy Rathmann is talented in using few words and fun pictures to tell a story for the youngest child (18+ months) to someone a few years older who appreciates all the detail and can tell their own story by looking at the pictures. If you are a fan of Rathmann's other books ("Good Night Gorilla" and "Officer Buckle & Gloria") you'll delight in seeing details of those stories in this book.
Book Review: A must have for the family... Summary: 5 StarsThis book is adorable! I bought it for my 5 month old son. I love these kinds of books that have detailed illustrations that enable you to introduce young children to the joy of reading through the pictures and easy text featured. Peggy Rathmann has sooo much talent in the illustration end. If you're familiar with her other books (Good Night, Gorilla & Officer Buckle and Gloria), you'll get a sneak peak at those characters in here but you've got to look closely. Her books are so fun that even my two-year old daughter enjoys them. She picked this book out to read today several times even though we bought it for her brother for Christmas. Good Night, Gorilla was a favorite of my daughter's, but I think we both love this book even more.
Book Review: Wonderful book for a 4 year old! Summary: 5 StarsMy son who just turned 4 absolutely adores this book. He can spend forever looking at each page, finding each numbered hamster while always finding something new too. We all laugh out loud at the silly antics of those hamsters. We can't read it before bedtime though - my son gets too excited and wound up! We tend to read it during the day more. I really enjoy 'reading' this book, and my son and husband love poring over the pictures. A must have!
